Visiting Instructor: Jason Allan Griffin

Jason has been passionate about maintaining optimum health and physical fitness since he was a child. Jack LaLanne was his first mentor and he exercised along with his television show in syndication every morning before going to school. A natural athlete, JAG grew up in Santa Barbara playing tennis, soccer, baseball, swimming and wrestling. After school, he moved to Seattle and got into dancing and teaching aerobics in order to stay active. At the age of 30, discovering Nia and meeting Debbie and Carlos changed his life and he 'never put his shoes back on again'. Now, JAG says, "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to teach this technique that does such a thorough job at conditioning the body and is also so creative and expressive as well."

Jason first obtained his White Belt in 1996, and acheived Black Belt in 2001. Since then, he has taught many classes and workshops all across the USA and Italy and Ireland. After several years of this, JAG says, "The open road was my next calling". Jason found himself answering the call to take his original Nia routine creations from city to city, with his faithful dog, River in the back seat of his Mini Cooper.

In February of 2014, Jason took the next step and joined the avant-garde of Nia by obtaining his First Degree Black Belt. He is also trained as a Nia Five Stages teacher and a Nia FreeDance DJ.

JAG's intention is to teach Nia in any place along his path that will welcome him and his pal, River, to share the beauty and pleasure of Nia. Visit this site to see JAG's Traveling and Teaching Schedule.

In October 2017, he plans to start up regular Nia classes again in Seattle.
