Avery took her first yoga class in her hometown of San Antonio at age 15. She later attended Texas State University and received a degree in Health and Wellness Promotion. After graduation and working for a hospital in New Braunfels, doing community outreach and health education for youth and adults, the stress of her job and the chronic sitting brought her back to yoga.
She was initially drawn to the physical practice of yoga, and she began to feel the difference it made to her mind and spirit. After 2 years with the hospital and 1 year of a dedicated yoga practice, she left her job, and traveled to a yoga ashram in Colorado to pursue a yoga teacher’s certification in the summer of 2015.
Avery teaches hatha and vinyasa flow classes. She loves to focus on the foundational poses of yoga that are beneficial for beginners as well as advanced practitioners. She works with yoga’s holistic approach to both physical wellness and mental focus.
In addition to yoga, Avery also practices Tae Kwon Do and teaches a martial arts preparatory program with children. She continues educating youth about wellness through several avenues, all of which highlight the amazing benefits of yoga and mindfulness.
